Is Psquare Professional with this utterance?

As the preparations for the February 2023 presidential election reach their peak, Nigerian music star, Peter Okoye, has disclosed that this year's election would be the first he is campaigning for a presidential candidate in any Nigerian election.

Peter Okoye who is one of the two brothers who formed the PSquare music band, stated this while reacting to an opinion that he was part of the people that campaigned for the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 election period.

However, disregarding the claim, Peter Okoye said all he did for President Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in 2015, was "collect your appearance fee and perform your duty". He stated this to establish the fact that he was not keenly interested in the campaign of President Buhari but only responded to their proposal because of the money he would collect from the APC, then.

Peter's response reads "I never ever campaigned for any Presidential candidates except now for PETER OBI. Did we perform for President Buhari during his inauguration in 2015? YES! He was already been announced as the President! As Kenneth Okonkwo said, collect your appearance fee and perform your duty.

Logically, the utterance coming from Peter could be considered unprofessional. A professional career seems to be independent of the personality of the practitioner of the career. If at all Peter would want to separate himself from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, even though he was seen on national television feeling happy when the moment was favourable to him in 2015, he seems to have adopted a softer means of announcing his divorce from the administration of Buhari.

Besides, in 2015 there were enough reasons for any reasonable citizen to justify their alliance with the political train of Muhammadu Buhari, which would surely not invite much criticism, but regarding a presidential offer to perform at his inauguration as an opportunity to cash out could be considered as an unprofessional act from the side of Peter Okoye.

Do you think this statement would not resurface to hunt the speaker, Peter Okoye, mostly in a country where many political followers of President Muhammadu Buhari may be needed for his next professional career after permanently retiring from the music business?
