Three former Executive Governors are currently leading the race to replace the incumbent National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Unse Ganduje.
The RoundTable, in a recent story, reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through a letter, has communicated the leadership of the party to convene a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party and prepare for Non-Elective Convention for the party.
Following the directive received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC has announced September 12th, 2024 for the party's NEC meeting.
The RoundTable reported that both the National chairman of the party, Ganduje, and the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, have been informed to prepare to vacate the office as the zoning of the offices they occupied will not favor them.
The RoundTable further learned that, following zoning of the National Championship position of the party to North Central, the governors in the zone are already tipped to shop for Ganduje's replacement.
In the latest development, three former givers from the North Central geopolitical zone are currently leading the race to replace Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party.
The immediate former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, is said to be relentless in his bid to lead the Progressives Party through the office of the number one member of the party.
Despite his ordeal with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Yahaya Bello is rooting for becoming the next National Chairman of APC in Nigeria.

Also, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, a former Governor of Nasarawa State who also vied for the position of APC National Chairman which was won by his kinsman, Senator Adamu Abdullahi, has been pinpointed as a major contestant for the office of APC National Chairman at the next convention.
Senator Al-makura is rated for his long-time ambition and relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
A former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye, has been speculated to have been closing ranks with political heavyweights within APC, aiming at becoming the next National Chairman of the party.
