Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced the upcoming construction of an Aviation Village near Victor Attah International Airport. This development, aimed at expanding the state's aviation ecosystem, will provide housing and amenities for aviation workers as the state plans to extend Ibom Air's operations to 24 hours.
The Governor made this announcement during a ceremony to receive a new Airbus A220-300 for Ibom Air, celebrating the growth and success of the state-owned airline, which now operates seven aircraft. He also emphasized ongoing projects, including the completion of the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hangar and the remodeling of the airport clinic.
Governor Eno praised his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his vision in establishing the airline and thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the state's programs. The new aircraft, facilitated by financial partners Fidelity Bank and Union Bank, will enhance Ibom Air’s efficiency and support its expansion to new destinations.
