Nasarawa State government has commenced the distribution of the trucks of rice provided by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
The exercise commenced on Sunday in Gudi, the hometown of Governor Abdullahi Sule with no less than 40 bags of 25kg of rice distributed to residents who are predominantly women.
The items were distributed through the Asmau and Hassan Foundation.
This is part of the measures taken by President Bola Tinubu-led administration to address the issue of food shortage in the country.
The Federal Government had appealed to Governors to ensure the effective distribution of the grains worth millions of naira to the most vulnerable in the society.
Many state governments have been accused of diverting the rice, rebranding the bags sales or distribution as if they were provided by the state governments.

Recall that recently, some state governments have argued that the Federal Government of Nigeria did not give any bag of rice to them.
