Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has reacted to a trending story that he is eyeing the Office of the National Chairman of the ruling party in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, All Progressives Congress (APC).
Debunking the claims of having an interest in the office that is currently being occupied by the former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Governor Yahaya Bello who is expected to be the pioneering occupant of a newly created Office of the Immediate Past Governor by the newly inaugurated Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo informed the populace to disregard the claim.
However, posters of former Governor Yahaya Bello were seen in Abuja carrying the inscription “APC Next Level. Alhaji Yahaya Bello as APC National Chairman. Leading the Change, Building a Stronger APC.”
The posters were pasted on the walls and fences of structures around the Federal Secretariat and the APC National Secretariat on Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.
Cementing his directive for the populace to disregard the posters and claims surrounding his alleged interest in the Office of the National Chairman of APC, Yahaya Bello, stated that APC “is not in the process of conducting congresses or a convention, therefore, there is absolutely no basis for anyone to circulate any posters for party offices.”
The pioneering occupant of the Office of the Immediate Past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, therefore encouraged people to take the insinuation of his interest in APC chairmanship position as shown in the posters in Abuja as “infantile, false and should be disregarded.”
