The newly inaugurated Governor of the Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has approved the establishment of the "Office of the Immediate Past Governor" in the state.
According to the approval letter to the effect of the new establishment, the "Office of the Immediate Past Governor" will be domiciled in the Kogi State Governor's Office and the immediate past Governor of the state will operate the office daily.
The newly established office will make the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, the pioneering holder of the office and this will allow him to have day-to-day access to the running of Kogi State affairs by Governor Usman Ododo.
The establishment of the Office of the immediate past Governor in Kogi State may later leave the state in legal uncertainty as the establishment did not specify whether a former Governor is still entitled to be expressed as "Immediate Past Governor" if an incumbent Governor is reelected for a second term in office.
Besides, mandates of the occupier of the Office of the Immediate Past Governor of Kogi State in the course of governing the people of the state have not been spelled out.
