The 27 of the 32-member Rivers State House of Assembly who are loyal to the former Governor of the State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, are currently holding a session to decide on the impeachment notice that was recently passed against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the state.

The development is connected to the peace deal supervised by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday to restore normalcy to the state, and between the political stakeholders in the state.

The House members loyal to Sike are currently meeting at the House of Assembly auditorium to move a motion to stop the impeachment process that was early commenced against Governor Fubara.

Recall that the political crisis rocking Rivers State degenerated into tough political misunderstanding among the political stakeholders in the state as the State House of Assembly became divided with 27 members supporting former Governor Nyesom Wike while only 4 lawmakers supported Governor Fubara in the crisis.

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday, at a meeting with the Rivers State political stakeholders brokered peace among the warring factions by rolling out 8-point resolution which he insisted must be strictly adhered to, or he would be ready to take hard actions against the players in the political imbroglio.
