A former Niger Delta Militant and leader of the Ijaw people, Mujahid Asari Dokubo has called in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to call on his Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, about an attempt to impeach the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Recall that the Round Table reported, yesterday, that the 27 pro-Wike lawmakers have allegedly acquired a court order to commence the impeachment process of Governor Fubara, today, Monday, December 18th, 2023.
Reacting to the political crisis between Governor Fubara and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike, and an attempt by people loyal to Nyesom Wike to get rid of Governor Fubara in the supremacy battle, Asari Dokubo threatened that the Ijaw people will not watch its son, Fubara, impeached and keep quiet. He stated the ethnic group will come out heavily to restrict the action if Fubara is Impeached. He therefore pleaded with President Tinubu to wade into Rivers's political crisis and resolve it to save Governor Fubara from being impeached.
The former militant leader expressed disappointment in the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu which he said has failed to call Wike to order on the Rivers State crisis.
Recall that the political crisis rocking Rivers State has degenerated into serious rivalry with the major stakeholders in the state taking sides in solidarity with either Governor Fubara or the former Governor of the state and current Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike.
