A young Nigerian student of Arabic Study who was simply identified as Alfa Musa has committed suicide in Ilorin, Kwara State capital where he is enrolled for Arabic Study at Sheikh Kamaldeen Arabic School, Ilorin.
Although the cause of what led to the suicidal decision taken by the 22-year-old Alfa Musa is yet to be ascertained, he left a suicidal note which was written and addressed to his parents in English language. The suicidal note mainly sends an apology to his parents, and “noticeably” cites “God’s refusal to answer his prayer” as the reason for killing himself. The note did not reveal his prayer point and the frustration that might have led to the harsh decision even though opted for “death” rather than “sin” as the note reveals.
The suicidal note reads “To my mum and dad, I am sorry, I did this because God did not answer my prayers, I will rather die than commit sin, please, forgive me, I love you, bury me at home.” The Osun State-born young Arabic student was described as a calm and easy-going person by the neighbors.
A friend of Alfa Musa was said to have checked on him at his house located at the Dagbenu compound in the Ogidi area of Ilorin on Thursday, December 7, 2023. He found the door locked and knocked on the door severally but received no response which alerted them to force the door open.
On gaining access to the room where Alfa Musa was living alone, his lifeless body was found hanging in the air as he had tied himself to the ceiling.
An empty paint container which he climbed to set himself free in the air, and the suicide note left behind by the deceased were found in the room.
The State’s Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi confirmed the incident and stated that the police have launched an investigation into the occurrence.
