The councillor representing Rumu-Epirikom and Elioparanwo Ward 9 of the Obio/Akpor Local Government of Rivers State, Rt. Hon Achor Prince Nna has resigned his position as both Leader of the House and Councillor of the ward. He also announced the termination of his support for the former Governor of Rivers State, and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Hon. Achor is the councilor representing the ward where Nyesom Wike hails in Rivers State.
According to a letter obtainable by the Round Table, Hon. Achor cited the political crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his erstwhile political godfather, Nyesom Wike as the logic behind his resignation.
He recalled that his decision would enable him to align with the truth in the state, describing Governor Fubara as the one fighting on the right course in the state.
Although Achor appreciated former Governor Nyesom Wike for allowing him to serve, Achor insisted his resignation would enable him to join forces with Governor Fubara in the course of moving the state forward, an idea he could not identify with the Nyesom Leadership of the camp he is resigning from.
Could be disturbed by Hon. Anchor's resignation, the Round Table recalled that he might have taken both the best and worst decision which may holistically determine his political future.
Remember that Obio/Akpor Local Government Chairman is among the many council chairmen who are boldly working for Wike in the state, and with Achor's displeasure against Woke, the better choice for him is what he had done. However, his political future remains uncertain as the Fubara's camp might choose to be very careful about his alliance for consideration of, presumably, being a mole.
Above all, Hon. Achor, despite pitching a tent with Governor Fubara who is currently being romanced by the Labour Party and the faction of his party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP), who worked against him during his Guber election, insisted his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains unshaken as he is resolved to work for President Tinubu and Governor Fubara in the future elections.
