Senator Abdulazeez Yari (L), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (R) A few days ago, the Department of State Service (DSS) invited and detained the former Governor of Zamfara State and aspirant for the President of the 10th National Assembly (Senate), Senator Abdulazeez Yari.
Although many people have related his arrest to an unfounded order allegedly given by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The source linking Senator Yari's arrest to President Tinubu claims that the DSS picked him up for Ignoring phone calls from President Tinubu during the Senate Presidential contest.
Both the presidency and Senator Yari's source have not confirmed or debunk the alleged presidential involvement in the arrest, though, a source has revealed to the Round Table the reason Abdulazeez Yari was arrested by the DSS operatives.
Our source claimed that Senator Abdulazeez Yari has been facing corruption allegations for quite a long time, and he was shielding arrest because he was enjoying the support of some cabals during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Our source recalled that two years after assuming office as the Zamfara State governor, Mr. Abudal'aziz Abubakar Yari was accused of purchasing a property in the United States at a huge sum of $950,000. The 2.1-acre property is located at 14800 Bowie Farm Court, Bowie Maryland (Zip code: MD 20721) and has six full and two half bathrooms with a jacuzzi in the master bedroom.

This property was said to have been illegally acquired by the Zamfara State former Governor after dubiously awarding N25 billion in road construction projects, indirectly to himself in the state.
Our source claimed that Senator Yari had to seek a court injunction to stop the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), and the DSS from arresting him at some point in time.
Our source claimed that Senator Yari's arrest could not be detached from the impending allegations of financial misappropriation around him.
Our source also claimed that the necessity to arrest Senator Yari was at its peak when he was accused of sharing $250,000 for each member of the Senate to garner their support during the contest for the Senate President.
Recall that Senate President Goodwill Akpabio scored 63 votes to defeat Abdulazeez Yari who scored 46 during the Senate presidential contest.
If the allegation around Senator Yari's spending was to be true, it means he might have spent nothing less than N9 billion on the contest, recalling that Senator lamented that he was betrayed by some members of the House which was the reason he gave for his defeat.
DSS would not take such an allegation for granted and it may be considered a big reason for Senator Yari's ordeal with the security operatives.
