Tinubu Unveils Christmas/New Year Gifts for Nigerians

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a 50 percent cut in the Transport fares across the thirty-six states in the Federal Republic of Nigeria; The administration also announced free train rides which form part of the administration's gift for the citizens as the country celebrates Christmas and New Year.

The festive period gifts were contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga stated that the free train rides will be enjoyed by all Nigerians from all the railway stations that fall under the control of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC). All classes of the Railway System are promised to be kept open and free to all citizens throughout the festive period.

However, the 50% cut in transport fare will be available for interstate vehicles and vehicles that will be taking people to their respective villages and towns.

Onanuga stated that the festive period gifts will be open to all citizens from Thursday, December 21st, 2023 to January 4th, 2024.

“President Tinubu says the Federal Government will bear 50% of the transport fares for interstate road travelers during Christmas and New Year. Train rides will be absolutely free. The policy takes effect from 21 December and ends 4 January 2024,” Onanuga stated in a tweet.
