At least six traders have been reported dead after a terrorist attack on a Friday Market in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims of the terrorist attack were said to be travelling from Maidabino village to Yantumaki, both villages situated within the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State before they, unfortunately, fell preys to the terrorist attack. They were intended to participate in a weekly market in the Yantumaki village.
On of the residents of the community revealed that the traders in this area used to travelled in convoy because of the insecurity situation of the area. Unfortunately, the convoy of vehicles conveying the atta Ked traders, suddenly ran into a set of deadly terrorists who were shooting sporadically at the vehicles as they emerged from a nearby forest enroute Yantumaki village.
One of the residents of the village told the PUNCH, “It was early in the morning, and the traders were close to Yantumaki when the bandits appeared from a forest and occupied the highway.
“The bandits were just shooting at the convoy of the vehicles. By the time, the security operatives, including the troops and the police, moved to the scene, six traders had been killed.
“We are yet to know whether the bandits abducted any of the traders.”
When contacted, the spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident, to journalists, saying, “The incident occurred, but I don’t have details yet, you can call me back later for details.”
