Kenya Police Authority has announced an arrest of a popular televangelist and the founder of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church, Ezekiel Odero. He was arrested over claims of religious indoctrination in his Mavueni church.

Pastor Odero was arrested for taking ill people away from hospital beds and promising them relief when they come to his church, which eventually resulted in their untimely death.

Pastor Odero has been involved in various controversial issues including selling fake anointing oil and miracles to his followers, who mostly are extremely poor, local people revealed.

“As the regional security team, we have arrested pastor Ezekiel Ombok Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church at Mavueni in Kilifi County on allegations of the deaths that have been occurring at his premises and reported in various morgues,” Coast Regional Coordinator Rhoda Onyancha said.

Pastor Odero drives exotic cars and lives in a Sh 1 billion mansion in Mavueni, Kilifi which was said to have been built from money accrued from the selling of fake anointing oil and miles to the ailing poor people who are members of his church.

The pastor drives a white Lexus Lx 570, estimated to cost between Sh20-27 million.
