Bola Tinubu Convener of the Concerned Nigerians civil organization group, Mr. Deji Adeyanju has claimed that Nigerians would have bought petroleum at the rate of N50 Per Liter if they had cast their votes for the presidential candidate of African Action Congress (AAC), Mr. Omoyele Sowore.
He stated this while reacting to the hardships faced by the citizens due to the hike in fuel prices in Nigeria.
The price of fuel in Niger skyrocketed after the oil subsidy was removed by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The removal of oil subsidy and floatation of the Naira, the country's legal tender, have jointly contributed to the hike in the price of items in the commodity market, which in turn had incurred hardship on the residents. This has invited lamentations from many individuals, although some citizens still agreed with the government's decision with the claim that the removal of oil subsidy is the right decision with short-time hardship and proximity of bringing long-term benefits.
Deji Adeyanju had serially condemned the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and that of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi for allowing Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge as Nigerian President. However, he has rarely been specific in declaring his support for Mr. Sowore, although they are closely related in social activism.
Blaming corruption on the reasons Nigerians refused to cast their votes for Sowore to become Nigerian President and make life palatable, Dé stated that "Petrol is cheaper than water in Libya. They sell one liter at the equivalent of N27. Our problem in Nigeria is corruption. If you had all voted SOWORE, petrol will be selling for N50 now and the subsidy won’t be removed.
