The former Governor of Anambra State and Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general election, Mr. Peter Obi, has paid a condolence visit to the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, over the recent explosion that led to the death and affliction of injury to many residents while property of unquantifiable value was destroyed.
Mr. Peter Obi during the visit commenced Governor Makinde for the quick intervention given to the affected people. He also pledged to make a "token donation" to the account provided by the administration of Governor Makinde to relieve the distressed residents of the affected areas.
Recall that recently a deadly blast was heard in Ibadan, the capital city of Oyo State, leading to the death of about three people, and injuring many while houses, cars, and businesses were destroyed.
Governor Makinde had stated that the explosion was caused by explosive devices being used by illegal miners in the state which were kept at the Bodija GRA of the state where the devices blew off.
Commiserating with Governor Makinde and the people of the state, Peter Obi said, "Aside from the economic loss incurred by the people, many of whom were rendered homeless by the incident, I am concerned about the trauma and psychological devastation experienced by these brothers and sisters of ours. Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected families at these difficult times."
He was accompanied to the state on Monday, January 29th, 2024, by his close allies including Aisha Yesufu, Dele Farotimi, and Dr. Moses Paul.
