Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Ademola Adeleke
Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, has urged his dancing partner, Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, to be honest with his dancing profile.
Chief Obasanjo told the governor when inaugurating a VIP Lodge in the Osun State Government House, on Sunday in Osogbo, the state capital.
Chief Obasanjo, while speaking at the inauguration of the VIP Lodge, said: “You remember that at one time I phoned you; I told you I didn’t have problems with your dancing. I said, ‘Don’t leave dancing, but as you are dancing, ensure you are working’.
“Some people once despised you as just a dancer, but I said only happy people dance; you are my dancing partner.
“You have to be honest with your conscience, with the people, and with your God.
“You have to be a man of character. Let people say ‘when he sees an opportunity to dance, he will dance, but he is a man of integrity, he is honest and works hard. It is very important.
“Anywhere we meet, we would dance and rejoice, if anybody wants to abuse us, they should go ahead,” he said.
“You are working on roads, don’t joke with it because when we make necessary provision for the people to have jobs, the state will work.
“Many Yoruba people want to work, but what is impeding that is the road to ply.
“When we provide the wherewithal for them, they would work. I will plead with you to continue with that.
“You said government is a continuum and that all the abandoned projects are being completed. God will make it good for you,” he said.
Listening to the latest remarks and association between former President Obasanjo and Governor Adeleke, some Nigerians who are versatile with Obasanjo's style of politics have criticized the union, doubting if Obasanjo could ever entertain such a man when he was the President of the country.
Some people argued that Chief Obasanjo understands that Osun State people are getting nothing more than a "dancing report" from the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke and that was why he kept encouraging him to dance only when necessary. However, Chief Obasanjo still went ahead to declare him as advancing Governor.
For over a year of Governor Ademola Adeleke as the Executive Governor of Osun State, residents of the state argued that he has not completed any project.
Like the VIP Lodge that Chief Obasanjo went to Osun State to inaugurate, the building was initiated by the administration of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola and was built and completed by the administration of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, both of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor Adeleke also testified to this, but the administration of Adeleke only painted the house and put up a party for inauguration, being the reason Chief Obasanjo finds himself in Osogbo where he had another dancing outing with his dancing partner.
On Obasanjo's remark relating to job creation in the Southwest, some concerned indigenes of the geopolitical zone have asked the former President to list the effort he made to rekindle the glory of Southwest as the industrial hub of Nigeria.
Is it true that Governor Ademola Adeleke has not started and completed a single project since November 2022 when he was sworn in as the Executive Governor of Osun State?
