Kim Jong Un The administration of North Korean President Kin Jong Ùn has declared an 11-day ban on laughing, crying, drinking, and shopping in the country, this is to mourn the death of Kim Jong II, the father of President Kim Jong Ùn.
The ban generally portrays the deepness of the control the North Korean president has on its citizens. The ban includes banning laughter, alcoholic consumption, and a forms of leisure for the past 11 days.
Interestingly, anyone who is seen violating the 11-day ban on leisures will "be taken away, and will never return," which is the capital punishment prepared to enforce the ban.
Marking the 10th posthumous anniversary of the death of Kim Jong II who died on December 17, 2021, Radio Free Àsìá reported North Korean administration agreed "During the mourning period, we must not drink alcohol, laugh or engage in leisure activities, an unnamed resident of Sinuiju, North Korea, was quoted as saying in the Radio Free Asia report.
Further report on North Korea's ban on leisures in honor of the late President's father is also extended to sobering as a ban is placed on crying “Even if your family member dies during the mourning period, you are not allowed to cry out loud, and the body must be taken out after it’s over. People cannot even celebrate their birthdays if they fall within the mourning period.”
The eleven-day mourning to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Kim Jong II started on December 17th and will end on December 28th.
