A former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has threatened that anyone who attempts to remove the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, from office should be ready to "go down".
The former militant leader said this in a Facebook Live video clip.
He alleged that he understood Governor Fubara conspired with the former Governor of the state and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to assassinate him during the last general election because he was not in support of Wike and Fubara during the election.
Dokubo also revealed that he has informed his friend, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to desist from what may make him go against the entire Ijaw nation.
He insisted that the battle to retain the seat of Governor Fubara is crucial to the Ijaw nation, and any attempt to remove him would inquire the wrath of the Ijaw people in full capacity. Consequently, anyone trying to remove Fubara as Rivers State Governor will go down.
He said, “I was not a supporter of Sim. Sim was even my enemy. He conspired with Wike to see that I was killed. I’m not dead, I’m still walking. But I told my friend, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the truth. I said you want to make Ijaws enemy because of Wike, okay; my hand no dey o.’
“I am an Ijaw man. There are two things that I cannot compromise on the surface of this earth – my Ijaw heritage and my Islam. Anybody who wants to take that mandate from Sim would go down because I know my Ijaw people. You know our capacity very well. It is no mouth.”
