Siminalayi Fubara The political imbroglio rocking the political space of Rivers State has taken a worse dimension as more members of the state Executive Council were said to have deserted the state Governor Siminalayi Fubara in support of the former Governor of the State, and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Recall that on Monday, this week, 27 of the 32-member Rivers State House of Assembly defected from the ruling party in the state, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party in the center, All Progressives Congress (APC); the political development is connected to the political topsy-turvy rocking the state. Although one of the Lawmakers made a U-turn 24 hours after his defection, and defected back to the PDP to align with the Governor against Nyesom Wike.
Early yesterday, Rivers State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor submitted his resignation letter to Governor Fubara with another Commissioner [for Special Projects] in the state, Chief Emeka Woke tendered his resignation letter while late yesterday, Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dr. Dax Kelly George Alabo joined the league of Commissioners aligning with Nyesom Wike in the political battle for supremacy.
Presently, a reliable source informed the Round Table that about 8 of the 14 Commissioners in Rivers State have tendered their resignation letters to the governor, and the development is not unconnected to the "Wike vs Fubara" political rancor that is hitting the state.
The names and portfolios of some of the Rivers State Commissioners who were said to have tendered their "mass resignation letters" from the Governor Fubara-les State Executive Council are as follows:
