Erik Ten Hag Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has delivered an update on his squad plans ahead of Saturday's return to Premier League action against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Reds are striving to make it three home wins out of three in 2023/24 but face the threat of the Seagulls, who have started the campaign well, with three victories including a 3-1 beating of Newcastle United last time out.
With the players back at Carrington after the international break, Ten Hag is assessing his options as he selects his side for the 15:00 BST kick-off.
The good news is Lisandro Martinez should be available, despite missing both of Argentina's internationals when travelling to South America, after being forced off during our game at Arsenal.
Raphael Varane and Mason Mount are making good progress but this weekend comes too soon for them.
"Both are in a good place," confirmed Ten Hag. "They are shortly coming [towards] a return."
Victor Lindelof is fine after he was also taken off at the Emirates Stadium.
Antony and Jadon Sancho will not be involved, meaning the right-wing slot is up for grabs. There are a number of potential candidates for that role, including skipper Bruno Fernandes, who comes into the match on the back of consecutive goalscoring outings with Portugal in Euro 2024 qualifiers with Slovakia and Luxembourg.
Marcus Rashford is another who could switch to that position, while Facundo Pellistri is a specialist there but has been away with Uruguay.
Rasmus Hojlund will hope to make his Old Trafford debut and it remains to be seen if another new signing, Sofyan Amrabat, is available after he withdrew from Morocco's squad.
