Labour Party Chairman, Abure, Reacts to Edo Governorship Ambition
Julius Abure
The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure has reacted to claims that he is eyeing the governorship seat of Edo State.

Recall that Abure was recently accused of frustrating the chances of some Governorship aspirants to pick the governorship ticket of the party in Edo State.

Reacting to the allegation at a Press Conference he organized in Abuja, Abure stated that he decided to react to the allegation so that some people would not think the claim was true.

He said, “I am not running for the Governorship primary in Edo. I will get people to conduct free, fair, and credible primaries.”

“I am assuring members of the party that we are committed to the ideals of the party members.

“On the issue of placeholder, today, with the membership strength of the party, the issue of placeholder is now a thing of the past,” Abure said of the issues raising concern about forgery in the party.

“We now have qualified people competing for elections. We won’t use placeholders again. We just conducted elections in Kogi Bayelsa and Imo. Those candidates emerged and formed part of the election. So, the issue of placeholder is now a thing of the past.

Speaking on the allegation of a threat to his life, Abure said, “We have made several reports on it. I won’t dwell much on that,” Abure said while assuring the members of his party of a level playing ground for all.
