Students of Layton Christian Academy were the heroes of the world on Tuesday after lifting a car to rescue a mother and her two-year-old child in what happened to be a strange car accident on the premises of the school.

The accident was said to have been caused by a temporary blindness” caused by the blazing sunlight on the eyes of the car’s driver at around 3:45 pm. The trapped mother, Bridgette Ponson, was said to be a staff of the admission office of Layton Christian Academy.

The car accident which was reported by KSLTV had Ponson, and her two children including a 3-year-old girl and 2-year-old son involved in a car accident where the 3-year-old girl managed to pull herself out while the car trapped her mum and 2-year-old sibling as revealed by a GoFundMe account set up to raise fund for the medical of the victims.

Chris Crowder, the school’s associate pastor told KSLTV “I looked across the parking lot and noticed the car and they were screaming and I ran over there, and I look under the car, and I see mom and child underneath the car pinned. I immediately just ran into the building because I knew I had to get a lot of people to lift this car.”

Students of the high school numbering about 20 surrounded the car and lifted it one or two inches while a senior military person, Dominique Childress who was present on the scene pulled out the woman and her child to safety.

The woman and her 3-year-old girl were taken to hospital for treatment while the 2-year-old child was taken to a children's hospital in an air ambulance. His face was “purple” at the time of the rescue but he was still breathing.
