The Executive Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has been caught in another move to deceive residents of his state as his administration in the state continues to look away from providing any means of ameliorating the economic challenges brought about by the removal of oil subsidy by the Federal Government of Nigeria even though the same policy had led to an increase in the allocation that Osun State, and like others, are collecting monthly from the federation account.
A press statement released by the Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) accused Governor Adeleke of rebranding the Federal Government Palliative Rice with his image to deceive the public that the palliative was provided by the state government.
Some of the serving members of Adeleke's administration in the state have been very critical of the Presidency with claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led the Federal Government of Nigeria only put the country in economic chaos with the removal of oil subsidy with no means in place to ameliorate the impacts.
Unveiling the allegation of illegally changing the federal government brands on the bags of rice delivered to the state government recently, the State chairman of APC, Tajudeen Sooko Lawal, in a statement released by the party's Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, worried that "Is it fair or justifiable for a state government to corner the palliatives meant for the people and pretend as if it is the state that is providing it?
The Osun APC party Chairman further expressed his worries, asking "What informs the choice of Governor Adeleke to order that the palliative rice should be re-branded with the inscription of his photograph and name on it?
"There cannot be any other name for this action other than official fraud.
"It is our resolve as a party that the trailer-loads palliative rice sent by the APC-led administration at the Federal level should not be used by Governor Adeleke to play dirty politics to the disadvantage of the opposition.
Osun APC Chairman also recalled that the Adeleke-led administration in Osun State has not accounted for about 1,200 bags of rice the Federal Government of Nigeria gave to the state to be shared among the members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) leadership in December 2023.
"As we speak, the issue of the Christmas/New Year 1,200 bags of rice sent to each of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) last December of which that of Osun State lost in transit remains unresolved till today", Sooko stated.
