EFCC Grips 36 Internet Fraudsters, 11 Currency Racketeers in Kaduna, Kano
EFCC Suspects
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 36 suspected Internet Fraudsters and 11 Currency Racketeers in its two separate operations in Kaduna, and Kano, respectively.

According to the statements released by the anti-graft agency, its operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, on Friday, February 23, 2024, arrested 36 (thirty- six) suspected internet fraudsters.

The suspects, comprising 35 males and 1 female were busted and rounded up at Sabo Kaduna and Narayi Highcoast and Layin Dogon Iche Samaru in the Zaria Local Government Area of Kaduna State, following credible information on their suspected involvement in internet-related offences.

The zonal command listed items recovered from the suspects to include 43 phones and five laptops

In a related development, the operatives of the Kano Zonal Command of the anti-graft agency have arrested 11 (eleven) suspected currency racketeers for their alleged involvement in the sale of new naira notes for commercial purposes.

They were arrested on Monday, February 19, 2024, following fruitful intelligence that un-masked a syndicate of fraudsters operating along Lagos Street, adjacent to the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kano.

The syndicate allegedly specialized in selling naira notes. Five members of the syndicate were arrested with new naira notes being sold to the public. Six bankers who were alleged to be selling the naira notes to the sellers on commission were also arrested.

The commission has vowed to leave no stone unturned in encouraging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's economic reforms which are being sabotaged by some suspected criminals.

The commission vows to arraign all the arrested suspected in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
