Men of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken over the premises of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, ahead of the final judgment on the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Recall that a five-member panel headed by Justice Kudrat Kekere-Ekun will, any moment from now, deliver judgment on the trial of Nnamdi Kanu.

The Supreme Court judgment will finally put an end to litigation on whether Nnamdi Kanu, who has remained since June 2021, is entitled to be released or remain in security custody pending a ruling on a patent case that links him to terrorism with the proscribed group, IPOB.

The DSS officers present at the Supreme Court and nearby the Villa restrict access to the area and only allow people who are considered "essential" to the case.

The DSS operatives initially disallowed media men who approached them with the "Supreme Court Pass" tag but later allowed their entrance after intervention by a very powerful officer of the Supreme Court.
