In a comic development, the authority of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the expulsion of some members of the party, months after they publicly denounced the party.
Those expelled from the PDP are the former member of the party's Board of Trustees and former member of the PDP National Executive Council, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun; Dan Orbih, National Vice Chairman (South-South), Phillip Shaibu, former Deputy Governor, and Omorgie Ogbeide-Ihama, former House of Representatives member.
Reacting to the development, Dan Orbih insisted that the players behind the game are jokers who are only trying to please their paymasters.
He said "They are amusing their paymasters. They have no power to expel a member of the national committee.
"When a group of persons who are idle and have nothing to do sits down to make pronouncements that are unconstitutional, it only shows that they are ignorant of the constitution of the party.
“They don’t have any power to even suspend or expel anybody without following strictly the provision of the constitution of the party, that is all I have to say about it and nothing more,” Orbih said
Confusingly, the PDP in Oredo Ward 2 has dismissed reports that its executives suspended or expelled Ogbeide-Ihama, a former governorship aspirant in the state.
Almost a month ago, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun led thousands of the supporters of PDP including its former Governorship aspirant, Dotun Babayemi from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defection took place with a fair at the State Party Secretariat of APC in the presence of the former Governor of the state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; National Secretary of APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru among others.
