Atiku Under Fire as He Reacts to Supreme Court Rulings on Guber Poll
Atiku Abubakar
Former Vice President of Nigeria and the presidential candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, Atiku Abubakar, has been challenged by some Nigerians after reacting to the Supreme Court Rulings on some Governorship Election Petitions in eight of the 36 states of the federation.

Reacting to the Supreme Court judgment, Atiku selectively congratulated Governors of the PDP-controlled states who won at the Supreme Court, while he congratulated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of the Kano State's New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP).

In his congratulatory message to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Atiku Abubakar restated his call for the NNPP and other opposition parties to empty themselves into the PDP to form a formidable opposition party.

Reacting to the Supreme Court judgment, Atiku said:

"The Supreme Court’s decision represents a significant victory for the people of Bauchi, Plateau, Akwa Ibom, and Zamfara states and is undeniably a triumph for constitutional democracy.

"I extend my congratulations to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, @Kyusufabba, of Kano State of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on his commendable legal victory. This moment also provides an excellent opportunity to restate my commitment to the idea that a unified opposition is crucial for strengthening democracy in Nigeria. I am more ready than ever to lead this endeavour, working alongside our esteemed leaders and governors for the betterment of our nation.

"The Supreme Court's ruling ensures the continuation of the high standards of governance that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has established in these states.

"I call upon Governors @SenBalaMohammed of Bauchi, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, Barr. Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Pastor @_PastorUmoEno of Akwa Ibom to view their Supreme Court victories as chances to further solidify and broaden the impressive governance they have already been providing.

"With the election phase now behind us, I am confident that the PDP will concentrate on its critical role as the principal opposition party in Nigeria, guided by its capable governors and myself.

Nigerians who are not pleased with Atiku's refusal to condemn the recent attacks in Plateau State, however, took him up for only making himself available to the people for political matters.

Dr. Kenon wrote: You are yet to respond to Plateau Massacre on Christmas Eve or your people told u not to respond? Or Their lives do not matter?

SwtAngel1: Yet…you couldnt find your Twitter fingers to tweet about the killings going on in Jos plateau…

Chief Dr. Ogwu Ego: And people were killed in plateau you couldn’t tweet that? 2027 you will come back for presidency again

Besides, some netizens condemned Atiku Abubakar for his selective reaction to the Supreme Court rulings as he was advised to quit politics for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is believed to be Atiku's master in politics.

Some of the reactions read:

Michael Chibizol: Thank God democracy is not in danger. It's the same Supreme Court that you questioned their integrity simply because they trashed your childish petition.

Meanwhile, these governors are more grateful to President Bola Tinubu for being a neutral observer than to you the supposed unifier.

Inyali Peter: His Excellency, how about Cross River, Ebonyi, Abia and Lagos? Sir, you show us a good example that in a democracy you win some and lose some. Congratulations to all the parties that won.

A. Ayofe: Leave Politics for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ❤️🇳🇬
