Armed Robbers It was a dramatic moment at the naming ceremony of one Kingsley Chime when some unknown armed robbers invaded the venue of his baby's naming ceremony and held every one, hostage until their operation lasted.
The amazing situation which occurred at about 4 P.M. at Zenith Estate, Isheri Oshun area of Lagos, left the guests and parents of the new baby in panic as the armed robbers arrived at the venue of the naming ceremony, carted away food items, drinks, scattered the set of chairs and tables arranged for the guests, and before leaving the scene destroyed windows of the house which was said to worth around N265,000.
When the incident was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division, the police officers swung into action and one of the armed robbers, 20-year-old Gideon Alasonye, was arrested and later remanded in police custody for interrogation.
After interrogation, Alasonye confessed to the allegation and revealed that all the food forcefully taken at the event was given out to people while the assailants, including himself, zipped the drinks as it was precious to them.
Police have charged Alasonye before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged conspiracy and stealing.
After Alasonye's first trial, the Presiding Magistrate, Ms. K.A. Ariyo, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment before the case was adjourned till 12th January 2024, for mention.
The defendant, Gideon Alasonye, was therefore remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when his bail conditions will be perfected.
