Senator Abdullahi Adamu The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu has allegedly resigned his position as the leader of the party. The National Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore may also tender his resignation letter any moment from now.
Senator Adamu has been facing intensified calls to step aside from his position, immediately after the party, All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the February 25th, 2023 presidential election.
Senator Adamu was accused of working against the presidential candidature of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party, APC during the presidential election in February, this formed decorum in the calls for his resignation.
A reliable source confirmed to the Round Table that Senator Adamu tendered his resignation letter this evening after he bowed to an instruction from President Tinubu to step aside as party members had demanded from him.
Recall that Senator Adamu was caught in several political techniques during the presidential primary of APC, attempting to deny Bola Tinubu the chance of picking the presidential ticket of the party.
Other sources claimed that Senator Adamu was not keyed to the course of APC to win the 2023 presidential election, after Bola Tinubu had picked the party's presidential candidate.
Following the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the Deputy National Chairman of the party (North), Abubakar Kyari will take over the mantle of leadership of the party, as the constitution of the party guides.
In a related news, the National Secretary of APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore may also submit his resignation letter any moment from now. Omisore's necessity to resign his position as the National Secretary of the party is said to be prompted by the Constitution of the party.
APC constitution does not allow the president and the National Secretary or National Chairman of the party to come from the same geopolitical zone. Recall that Senator Omisore and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are both from the Southwest geopolitical zone.
