Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji More members of the Abia State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) have defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) causing the main opposition party to lose more stamina in the state.
Today, a former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji formally perfected his defection from PDP to APC.
The former Abia State Assembly Speaker was issued the APC membership card by the Abia State APC Chairman, Dr. Kingsley Ononogbu
Recall that on Monday, May 6th, 2024, the 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate of PDP in Abia State, Hon. Jasper Uche, also tendered his resignation letter from the party.
Speculation has it that Hon. Jasper Uche is heading towards APC.
Internal political analysts suggested the defection towards APC is an outcome of two functions.
One is the political instability that is rocking the hierarchy of the PDP at the national level which affects its structures across the nation.
Secondly, the influence of the former Abia State Governor and currently a member of the National Assembly (Senate), Senator Orji Uzor Kaku who is a member of the APC and will be doing everything to ensure the party wins the next governorship election in the state which is currently occupied by the Labour Party.
