3 Dead, 7 Injured in Late Night Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

Ogun State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed a road accident on the Abeokuta axis of Lagos to Ibadan Expressway.

According to the Public Education Officer of the Ogun State sector of the FRSC, Mrs. Florence Okpe, the accident which occurred late night Saturday claimed the lives of 3 people while 16 others sustained various degrees of injuries.

The dead passengers were said to have been deposited at the morgue of Idera Hospital, Sagamu while the injured passengers were admitted to the same hospital for treatments.

The Accident which occurred at 9:23 PM, yesterday, was said to have involved two vehicles, a Toyota Hiace bus with registration numbers RLG 846 XA and a trailer marked JJN 32 YX. The Accident affected 18 people, which comprised 16 men and two women, all, passengers in the Toyota Hiace bus.

Speaking on the cause of the accident, Mrs. Okpe stated the Toyota Hiace bus driver overspeeded which led to loss of control of the bus which later crashed into the approaching trailer.
