Donald Trump Former President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has been fined a sum of $10,000 by the presiding judge of a New York Court, yesterday.
Ex-President Donald Trump was forced to enter dock to defend a fraud case brought against Mr. Donald Trump, his company, and his son by some banks and insurance companies.
Former President Trump was arraigned alongside his company and son for inflating the values of his assets to defraud the banks and insurance firms.
Appearing in the court on Wednesday to defend the trial, Mr. Donald Trump made a comment that sounded derogatory to the Judge’s clerk which attracted the wrath of the presiding judge Engoron who awarded Mr. Trump a fine of $10,000.
Mr. Trump had addressed the Press claiming that Engoron was very partisan and had a “very partisan person sitting alongside him.” Vexed by the commentary, Judge Engoron called a hearing to probe the remark submitted by the former President of the United States, Mr. Trump.
Mr. Trump, however, denied the allegation with a claim that he was referring to his former fixer, Michael Cohen, who was sitting next to the Judge and was purposely in the court to testify against his former boss, Mr. Trump.
This is not the first time Mr. Trump would be fined against Judge Engoron as he suffered the same action, last week, when the court directed him to pay a fine of $5,000 after refusing to take down a social media post when he attacked Judge Engoron.
Warning the former President to desist from running derogatory commentaries about the state’s judiciary, Judge Engoron was silently heard saying “Don’t do it again or it’ll be worse”. Although Mr. Trump was not sure to have heard the comment.
The former American President later stormed out of the courtroom saying “I’m leaving” and heading toward the main door after the Judge refused to strike out the case against after what Mr. Trump claimed to have been “inconsistent” testimony by Cohen, his former fixer.
When Mr. Cohen was asked by the court whether Mr. Trump directly asked him to inflate his assets, he could not give a straightforward response as he clarified that Mr. Trump did not ask him directly but spoke like a “mob boss” to give the order.
The presiding judge, Engoron, however, decided to entertain the case because of what was called “there’s enough evidence in this case to fill this courtroom,” as CNN‘s Jeremy Herb and Lauren del Valle transmitted from the courtroom.
