The atmosphere was full of particles of dust emerging from a drone attack on the city of Kyiv as a result of the deployment of the biggest drone on the Ukrainian city by Russia since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia commenced, last year.
Residents of Kyiv were prematurely kept awake before dawn on Saturday by a reechoing sound of blasts and explosions from the drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Kyiv. No casualty of death has been recorded but about five residents including a minor aged 11 were said to have been injured in the blasts which also destroyed buildings.
The attacks which were launched from the North and East of the city sent the Ukrainian Airforce restive for more than six hours looking for ways to curb the merciless attack on the city.
According to a report by the BBC, Ukrainian air defense claimed that over 75 Iranian-made Shahed drones were fired towards the city of Kyiv, and 74 of the drones were successfully shut down. The Ukrainian air defense belittled Russia for childing with Iranian-made Shahed drones which were said to be inferior and slower than the ballistic missiles which Russia had claimed ownership of its stocks.
The air defense further claimed that the time of the day [night] in the country assisted the sound of the missile as debris of the shut-down missiles posed no threat to the environment. The defense stated that debris from a ballistic missile could also to the area where it fell during the shutdown.
Reacting to the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the strikes which he described as “willful terror”.
The missile attack came the same day Ukrainians commemorated the 1932-1933 Holodomor attack it suffered from the former Soviet leader Joseph Stalin where several millions of Ukrainians were lost with about 16,000 homes in Kyiv cut off from power supply.
