Tonye Cole The former governorship candidate 9f the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has given reason his home state, Rivers, has been developing at a very slow rate compared to the fast rate at which Lagos State has been developing.
Tonye Cole who was featured in the Arise TV News Night interview section yesterday, Thursday, January 25th, 2024, stated that the failure of Rivers State politicians to manage its succession plan and godfatherism is responsible for the failure of the state to develop at the same rate as Lagos.
Tonye Cole stated that Lagos State has been successful in transforming the habit of continuity of developmental projects from one administration to another whereas Rivers State ended up having governors who pick fights with their immediate predecessor, and in turn, abandoned all the developmental projects embarked on by the previous administration.
Tonye Cole who gave glory to God and accepted his failure to win at the Supreme Court in the case against the election of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, insisted that he is ready to work with Fubara if the Governor wants.
He admonished Governor Fubara to be devoid of running his administration on ethnicity, political caucus, or political party without focusing on the common interest of every resident of Rivers state. He wished Fubara well as the Supreme Court upheld his victory in the March 2023 Governorship election held in Rivers State.
In the same news, when asked if he will recontest for the Governorship seat of Rivers State, Tonye Cole said he will go back to the drawing board, reorganize his campaign structure, and prepare for the 2027 Governorship election in the state.
