President Bola Ahmed Tinubu There is speculation making the round on social media platforms that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lifted the ban on the borders between Nigeria and the neighboring countries.
The speculation has received reactions from many Nigerians online as some citizens prayed that God will touch the mind of President Tinubu to open the border.
Many citizens, both learned and illiterates believed that the decision by former President Muhammadu Buhari to close the Nigerian borders was a major setback for the administration as it was closely related to the hike in prices of food items in the country.
Nigeria, with a hopping population of 200 million highly depends on farm produces and, mostly staple foods from neighboring countries. However, insurgencies, leakages in Internally Generated Revenue, and the drive to promote locally made products were among the reasons that convinced former President Muhammadu Buhari to close the border.
Although the speculation is on the rising trend, checks and contact made by the Round Table show that the presidency has not yet lifted the ban on the Nigerian borders.
Once the ban on Nigerian borders is lifted, it is a promise that the Round Table will take the front row in reporting the expected development.

Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, yesterday, disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the re-opening of the Seme border for the importation of vehicles.
Speaking at the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, meeting, organised between officials of Nigeria and Benin, Musa said the development followed complaints by freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.
The director, who spoke at the ECOWAS Monitoring Team’s visit to the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, said: “I was here with the former Minister of State for Transportation when the Freight Forwarders pleaded that the border should be reactivated for the free movement of goods and services.
