NFF in Tight Corner To Sack Super Eagles Coach Peseiro

NFF in Tight Corner To Sack Super Eagles Coach Peseiro
Jose Peseiro
The Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, may be shown the exit door of the team aftermath of the team's failure to win the Cote D'Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, a reliable source revealed to The Round Table.

Jose Peseiro was given a short-term contract by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in 2022; and there has been consideration for the termination of his contract even before he led the nation's football team to win a Silver at the just concluded Cote D'Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nigeria's Super Eagles emerged runner-up to the newest African football champion, the Elephant of Ivory Coast, after a 2-1 scoreline in the AFCON final match.

Although the majority of football enthusiasts in Nigeria did not have confidence in the managerial style of Peseiro, his qualification for the AFCON final came with mixed reactions as the majority of the residents rejected his defensive football style.

Peseiro who must have felt the heat or told by a close ally released a statement after losing AFCON final to Cote D'Ivoire to accept his football tactics failed him in the final match against Ivory Coast.

Unfortunately, the reason behind the proposed sacking of Peseiro may not be linked to his failure to win the AFCON 2023, though NFF may capitalize on this, our source revealed that NFF is unable to meet the obligations to sustain Peseiro as Super Eagles manager due to financial incapacitation.

Although our source disclosed that concerned individuals are looking at calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to come to the aid of the NFF in terms of meeting Peseiro's obligations, we were also informed that a clique within the NFF has resolved to engage a local coach.

Many ex-Super Eagles internationals were said to have been featured in the search for Peseiro's replacement but ex-super Eagles player, Emmanuel Amunike, is suggested to be topping the loss for now, and pending any intervention either from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu or the authorities within the NFF.
