Usman Buda
It was a black Sunday for the family of a butcher in Sokoto State who is identified as Usman Buda. Usman was killed early today by angry mob who were not happy with his alleged act of negative regards for Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).

According to some colleagues of Usman, he was described as someone who like to engage in religious argument, but he was said to be mindful of his words, and he has never use negative words on Prophet Muhammad.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the butcher allegedly made the blasphemous comment during an argument with another trader at the Sokoto main Abattoir around 8am on Sunday.

Butchers in the state abattoir said that the leadership of the abattoir attempted to save Usman but they were over power by the enormous crowd of mob who descended on him.

“Our leaders made a fruitless attempt to save him but they could not contain the crowd. They initially rescued him and hid him before they were overpowered,” a butcher said.

According to an eye witness, Usman was beaten to death by his fellow butchers. His corpse was later taken away by the police.

Another account said his closest business partners also attempted to rescue him but, ”Some of them sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
