The newly inaugurated Executive Governor of Kano State Abba Kabir Yusuf has reversed some of the actions taken by his immediate predecessor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf alleged that some of the assets which belong to the state were indiscriminately sold by the administration of Governor Ganduje to his loyalists. Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf thereby ordered security agents to take over the property until the state government takes final decision on the concerned property.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated that "In line with our transition advisory. I am announcing, today, that all public places and assets that were immorally plundered and sold by the Ganduje administration should be taken over by law enforcement agencies pending the final decision of the Government.
According to the State Governor, the property which were alleged to have been illegally sold by Governor Ganduje's administration are mostly landed property which surround public places like schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals and clinics, graveyards and green areas which belong to the state government.
"We have noted that the last administration had sold lands in and around schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals and clinics, graveyards and green areas, and along the city walls of Kano. We have also noted that they indiscriminately sold numerous other landed properties and assets belonging to the Kano State Government within and outside the State to their cronies and agents," Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf alleged.
Umar Abdullahi Ganduje was a two term former Deputy Governor and two term former Governor of Kano State.
