Umar Abdullah Ganduje Former Kano State Governor and the Present National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Abdullah Ganduje has arrived at Kano City, the first of his visit to the state since his party lost the May, 2023 Governorship Election in Kano State.
A source close to the APC National Chairman who preferred to be anonymous stated that former Governor Ganduje has arrived in Kano State for a reconciliation meeting among the aggrieved members of the party in the state.
The source revealed that the APC National Chairman, Ganduje, is expected to stay in the state till Friday, January 26th, 2024 when he will return to Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Ganduje's visit to Kano is unconnected to the outcome of a recent meeting between the Kano State chapter of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who ordered the stakeholders to hold a peace meeting and ensure reconciliation with aggrieved members of the party. The meeting was also reported to have mandated a reconciliation between the political camps of the two former Governors of the State, Abdullah Ganduje of the APC and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP).
Although The Round Table is yet to know about the arrangement to reconcile Ganduje and Kwankwaso, the APC leadership in Kano State has scheduled a meeting for today, Thursday, January 25th, 2024 to reconcile the warring members of the APC in Kano State.
The Round Table also learned that the 2023 Governorship candidate of the APC, Yusuf Gawuna will not be present at the meeting because he has traveled to Saudi Arabia for leader Hajj although his running mate will be present at the reconciliation meeting.
