In every contest, there is an opportunity of winning and losing but no one will achieve the two, simultaneously. This could be burrowed to justify the political scenario that came to play in the politics of Osun.

It is not more news that the former Governor of the state and outgoing Minister of Interior, Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola was not on good terms with his immediate successor and former governor of the state, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola.

More interestingly, the political misunderstanding between Oyetola and Aregbesola was fully used by Aregbesola to deploy his political dynasty in the state, and allegedly his ministerial influences against the reelection of Oyetola, although they both claim to be members of the same All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyetola lost at the polling booths during the July 16th, 2022 governorship election in Osun. It glared and could be evidenced by the sudden political pally between the winner, Ademola Adeleke, and Aregbesola that Oyetola was swiftly worked against by Aregbesola and the remnant of his political dynasty in the state.

Not stopping at that, Aregbesola felt not remorseful despite the loss of his party, APC in Osun State and he was even accused of working with some federal forces to ensure Oyetola lose out completely at the courts.

Whether it was a false rumor or a reality, the influence of Aregbesola in the defeat of APC in the Osun 2022 governorship election will surely come with a gain or loss for Aregbesola and Oyetola. However, there is certain that a loser will emerge as the best loser.

Today, slots of ministerial, Director Generals, Board members, and heads of Departments, Agencies, and Parastatal of the Federal Government of Nigeria will be allocated to Osun State, and it will not go to the sitting Governor but members of the APC in the state, bearing in mind that APC retains the seat of power at the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Whether Aregbesola would be probed for anti-party activities or not, the indications show that he may not have access to any slot regarding dividends of this democratic era. This is simple, he chose to stay away from the party and, allegedly worked against the party when the contest was hot.

Oyetola, arguably, seems to be more of a "Best Loser, in this political powerplay. This is because he actually loses out on the governorship race, following the Supreme Court judgment that was delivered against him, but he has the full stake in determining who takes what, regarding federal appointments that may come to the state from the APC-led federal government, while Aregbesola may be forced to take the warm-seat.
