Ethnicities often differ by societal norms which are the common dos and don'ts within the society. There are many ethnic groups across the world and these are the common grounds in which ethnicities group themselves.

Interestingly, norms in a particular ethnic group are considered taboo or, softly, the strange and weirdest occurrences in some other ethnic groups. People found peace in doing most of these cultural practices because it is commonly accepted within society.

One of the African ethnic groups with what could be considered a "hard to believe" cultural norm is the Luo.

Luo people mostly populate the Western part of Kenya and the Northern region of Tanzania. These are great people with boldness and amazing cultural practices. They are mostly found at the heartbeat of East Africa and remain the fourth largest ethnic group in Kenya after the Kikuyu, the Luhya, and the Kalenjin ethnic groups.

Couples of the Luo people of Kenya are mandated to undergo a special spiritual cleansing when their husbands die. This is to determine the ways to go whether they would need a special spiritual cleansing or not after the demise of their husbands. Any woman who fails to abide may not have the opportunity to get remarried after the death of her husband.

The Luo women would be compelled to sleep in the same room with their Dead husband a night before the burial. They were believed to have sexual dreams with their husband which signifies freedom from the marriage. If they fail to have the sexual dream while sleeping in the same room with their Dead husband, it means they will have to go through extraordinary spiritual cleansing before they can get married to another man after the burial.

Sleeping with the dead husband could be a weird occurrence in other ethnic groups, it is a norm in the Luoland and the women have been practicing this for ages.
