Nigeria Civil Servants
The report of the performance of the Federal Civil Service Promotion Examination conducted recently has revealed that over 9,000 out of about 13,000 staff of the Federal Civil Service Commission who sat for the 2022 promotion exams failed the test.

The development has triggered reactions as many citizens expressed surprise at the performance record which showed only 3,851 out of the over 13,000 civil servants who sat for the promotion examination excelled while others failed woefully.

The exams which were conducted using the Computer Test platform involved the core civil service, including the Nigeria Police, other paramilitary and specialized agencies

The report also said that the letter containing the list of successful civil servants was dated November 30, 2023, and sent from the Federal Civil Service Commission.

The letter, tagged: ‘FC.6241/S.35/Vol.xi/ T12/268,’ was signed by the Director of Promotions, Sani Bello, and addressed to the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

Reacting to the report Nigerians believed that "poor and dumb" civil servants were recruited into the Civil Service Commissions at both federal and state levels are the major source of Nigeria's problem.

Arguably, while some people blamed the decay in the Nigerian Civil Service Commissions on the regrettable fact that the majority of the civil servants were recruited based on "who you know [favoritism/Nepotism]", many people lobbied the failure in the civil service to the quota system on which Nigerian government recruits it's civil servants.

Unfortunately, none of the people reacting to the development blamed the failure on the government or ethnicity as the issue has been in the past but the incompetence of the recruited government workers.
