Why I Dumped PDP, Jandor of Lagos Ires Recall that Jando resigned from the PDP on Monday, along with his supporters across the 20 local governments and 37 local council areas of the state.
However, during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Tuesday, March 4,2025, Jandor stated that the state party chairman of PDP in Lagos State issued the press release on election eve, demanding that they withdraw from the race.
He disclosed it was not about him, underlining it has been the PDP’s trade.
He said, “I was disappointed by the PDP at the national level. Let me inform you what happened on the eve of the election. The state party chairman of PDP in Lagos State issued a release speaking to a forced affinity that never happened announcing that we withdrew from the race. It was not fake news. It exactly happened.
“This was done to make sure that we did not go anywhere. And it’s not about me. They did this to Obanikoro and Williams. It was not just about Jandor. What they did was not just because it was Jandor. This has been their trade.”
Jandor added he had not decided on which party he would join, revealing he would consult with his people before making any decision.
Speaking further, Jandor submitted that the national leadership of the PDP failed to pursue the party’s type and sanction some erring members.
Instead of taking action against those he charged of working against the PDP during the latest general elections, Jandor reported the national leaders gave the appointment to one of the guilty persons as the Vice Chairman of the disciplinary committee.
“We were waiting to see if the party at the national level ruled by the nature of the party would look into the provisions of that nature and reveal that for engaging in anti-party activities openly, this is the sanction.
“We waited patiently for two years and see whether that would happen, instead of that, the same person was appointed Vice Chairman, Disciplinary Committee by the national,” he reported.
Speaking on his likely political journey, including a possible 2027 governorship ambition, Jandor disclosed he doesn’t have to seek the blessings of President Bola Tinubu to emerge as the Lagos State Governor.
According to him, he doesn’t belong to Tinubu’s political party, and only God enthrones people.
He, however, revealed he might join any of the available parties to realise his 2027 governorship dream.
“APC is one of the 17 (parties) that is left. A coalition is coming in Nigeria. Other political parties are there. Labour Party is also the option, it is part of the 17.
This also trended:
“We have chosen this path; we are not deviating. It is only God that can determine who and when. This is the path that we have chosen,” he disclosed.
Jandor disclosed he has not met with Tinubu since he left the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022.
When asked whether he has consulted Tinubu and other APC leaders in Lagos to anoint him for the top Lagos seat, Jandor disclosed, “No, we are not in the same party. I don’t have to consult with them”.
