Two Tinubu's Core Loyalists Rooting for Becoming His Chief of Staff

Bola Tinubu news, who is Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
One of the most powerful political appointments by the Executive Office Holders is the Chief of Staff who many people who understand the course of governance see as the second in command to the Boss. Because of its relevance, and in conjunction with the sensitivity of governance Governors and Presidents consider the position of Chief of Staff as either "De facto Governor" or "De facto President" depending on the context of the appointment. Hence, one who could take bullet shield for the Governor or the President is considered for the position.

However, the newly inaugurated President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu may be facing difficulty in the course of appointing his Chief of Staff. This difficulty, unfortunately, is not related to the lack pf who can take bullet shield for the new president but because he is faced with an option of picking one of his many core loyalists who should be given the appointment.

Although it could be argued, many opinion moulders engaged by the Round Table in the course of composing this story suggested that the former Osun State Governor, Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola would have settled the struggle with no need for options, but he had placed his cards against the criteria.

Currently, there are two core loyalists of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who are being considered for the Office of the Chief of Staff in the Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Expectantly, the two core Tinubu loyalists who are being penned down for consideration for appointment as the Chief of Staff to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are being labeled with merits and challenges.
Femi Gbajabiamila

Outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. (rt) Femi Gbajabiamila is one of the two core loyalists of President Tinubu who are being considered for the position of the Chief of Staff, Office of the President. Hon. Gbajabiamila is supported by some politicians who believed he paid high degree of contribution to the presidential campaign of Bola Tinubu. Many of his supporters raised opinion that he was always with the President during the presidential contest, and that the appointment into the Chief of Staff would be used to appreciate his loyalty. His supporters also banked on his political charisma and familiarity with the political terrain of the Federal Capital Territory which they suggested may assist the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

However, some politicians who are opposed to his option, though could not fault his support for the ambition of Bola Tinubu to become the President but challenged his loyalty to the party, All Progressives Congress (APC) that produced the president. They raise allegations that Hon. (rt) Gbajabiamila gave priority to the caucus he belongs to in the House of Representatives than doing the bidding of promoting interest and candidates of the party in the last general elections.

Some of his opponents alleged that Hon. (rt) Gbajabiamila worked against some candidates of APC who vied for the House of Representatives seat in their respective states, and worked in the interest of some candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who belong to his caucus in the National Assembly.

Going by these, many of his opponents are of the opinion that Hon (rt) Femi Gbajabiamila may use the same interest to prioritize the interest of his relationships with the PDP House of Representatives members, and possibly work against APC in the nearest future.

Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila has been elected as member of House of Representatives for the sixth times, consecutively, representing Surulere I Federal Constituency of Lagos State.
Gboyega Oyetola

Second on the list of option of two who are being considered for the appointment as the Chief of Staff, Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria is the immediate past Executive Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola.

Oyetola's supporters for the appointment are banking on an opinion that the position of Chief of Staff should be given to someone who is more technocrat than politician. They claim that Oyetola's calmness, administrative expertise and weak political charisma may assist the president in dealing with the task of minimizing the course of playing politics with the governance at the centre.

Although, those who are opposed to the choice of Oyetola said the position needs to be given to someone who is more politically tough and not as gentle as Oyetola. They insisted that Oyetola who could not win an election in his state is not fit enough for the position of Chief of Staff, Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Considerably, some of the opinion moulders suggested that the former Lagos State Governor and ex-minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola should have been the best choice for the slot. They expressed their surprised why the former Governor is not in the picture for the slot.
