Ademola Adeleke Following the removal of the oil subsidy by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has declared a 12-day free medical care for the residents of the state to cushion the effects of the oil Subsidy Removal in the residents of the state.
The free medical outreach which will take off in Ilesha on August 16th, 2023 will take place only in six cities and will be available to the public for just two days, at each of the six centers, making the total days of the program to be 12.
According to a statement released by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the program was set up as the palliative the state government could afford to the residents to cushion the effects of oil subsidy removal, and it will take place at two centers in each of the three senatorial districts in the state.
The program is planned to benefit at least 2,500 residents in each of the Senatorial Districts, leaving the total number of targeted beneficiaries to 7,500 across the state of about 4,435,800 residents.
The program which engulfs huge amount of money, feasibly in billions, will be coordinated by the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, and government-owned state hospitals in Ilesa, Ila-Orangun, Ile-Ife, Iwo, Ede, and Osogbo are the center of meeting on the chosen dates.
"Surgeries covered by the free medical outreach include Cataracts, Pterygium, Hernia, Hydrocele, Lipoma, Keloids, and some swollen body parts. Medical conditions like Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria, Cough, Tuberculosis, and other diseases will also be treated by a team of medical practitioners assembled by the state government to make the program a huge success," Spokesperson to the Governor, Olawale Rasheed stated.
The locations and schedule of the palliative medical care across the three senatorial districts in Osun State are:
1. Ilesha (flag off and care) - August 16 & 17
2. Ila Orangun - August 23 & 24
3. Iwo - August 30 & 31
4. Ile Ife - September 6 & 7
5. Ede - September 13 & 14
6. Osogbo - September 20 & 21
