Mr. Peter Obi
Presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the February 25, 2023, presidential election in Nigeria, Mr. Peter Obi as expressed sadness over the harsh comments passed by his followers on Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Winners International Church of God. Followers of Mr. Peter Obi have been found wanton of abusing people regardless of their age and statutory position in the country once they disagree with the presidential ambition of Mr. Peter Obi.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye has been under verbal attacks by the followers of Mr. Peter Obi for prophecizing good governance under the administration of the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Many people are surprised by the reaction coming from Mr. Peter Obi because in the past his followers have been found wanton of abusing people who have a different opinion from his presidential ambition, and at no point in time he has ever chosen to caution them to talk less of condemning their actions.

Although Mr. Peter Obi still attempted to cover up the identities of his followers who have chosen to abuse anyone with different opinions from his presidential ambition, even he used the word "people masquerading as the obidients" to describe those people who threw abuses at the pastor Enoch Adeboye but public awareness about the culture of his political followers could not be manipulated.

Mr. Peter Obi in his statement said "The use of subterfuge by "people masquerading as Obidients" to abuse and insult eminent personalities like Most Reverend Pastor Enoch Adeboye or anyone else is most unacceptable. Obidients are by and large, law-abiding citizens.

"While differences of opinion are normal, calculated efforts to create ethnic or religious chasm all in the name of politics should not in any way be tolerated. As a person, I eschew name-calling, insults, and abuses, likewise, most of my supporters do.

Haven knew his political tactics and the cultural ethics of his followers, many prominent Nigerians do not agree with the criticism lately coming from Mr. Peter Obi regarding the ways his followers abuse anyone who show diverging opinion from his presidential ambition these are what the people are saying:

Reno Omokri: A former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri described Mr. Peter Obi as an 'irresponsible man' for hiding the identity of his followers who chose to abuse anyone that has a different opinion from his presidential ambition.

He said in parts: "Peter Obi, please take a testosterone shot and be a man for once. The people who insulted Pastor Adeboye are not "masquerading as Obidients", as you claim. They are known and prominent Obidients.

"One of them is someone you and I have discussed, and you know that person. Others are too popular as Obidients. They have been photographed with you. They have solicited funds for you. Name them and shame them.

"That is why you can NEVER be President of Nigeria. You are irresponsible. You cannot take responsibility for your actions and the actions of your followers. Instead, you cowardly try to blame others. Just as you told me that those who made threats against my family were APC members masquerading as Obidients.

Aisha Yesufu:

One of the followers of Mr. Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu supported the action of Peter Obi's followers, claiming it is their right to Freedom of Speech. She said:

People have a right to be angry at the comment attributed to Pastor Adeboye and express themselves on the issue. The main issue we should focus on is some media attributing such false statement to him and the length some are ready to go to legitimize the stolen mandate. Why do we want to curtail people’s freedom of expressing their pain and bring in respect?

Omoyele Sowore:

Publisher and the Chief Executive Officer of the Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore insisted that Peter Obi Is slimy and deceptive and he has just discovered that his abusive strategies of playing politics have backfired.

Recall that in the past, among prominent Nigerians who have been abused by the followers of Mr. Peter Obi were Ooni of Ife, Pastor Adefarasin, Prof Wole Soyinka, other prominent leaders from the West, North, South, and now, Pastor Adeboye.
