Portable at the Celestial Church Prophets of a Celestial Church disciple, Tayo Oke, have expressed dissatisfaction with the presence of a Nigerian pop star, songwriter, and wrapper, Habib Okikiola Oyegbile who is popularly known by his fans as Portable or otherwise Dr Zeh or Werey Olorin [crazy musician] at a Celestial Church's Praise Night.
Recall that the internet recently went agog following an invitation extended by a Celestial Church of God in Lagos, Goshen Parish, to Portable and popular Yoruba fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma. The musicians were invited to lead the church's congregation in the year's Praise Night.
Although some media outlets reported that the management of the church had reverted and terminated the invitations extended to the street musicians, The Round Table reported that the invitations extended to the musicians have not been withdrawn.
On Friday, December 15th, 2023 Portable and Pasuma shut down the venue of the Church's Praise Night, leading the congregation in the praise night as previously planned.
The development has, again, sent the internet agog as many people expressed the appearance of Portable in a church event as a disquiet one. Ma y people condemned the invitation for incompatibility claiming that Portable's style of singing is unGodly, unholy and should not come near the Church.
Joining the public condemnation of the scenario, a pastor of another celestial Church, Tayo Oke, said he could not hold water running down his cheeks when he saw the video of Portable playing at the Lagos-based celestial Church, despite the public outcry.
The prophet expressed his unhappiness as the church gave out its spiritual cloth to Portable to sing the street music.
Prophet Oke said "Despite the outcry, Portable and Pasuma still went ahead to perform at the praise night. Have you ever seen a nuisance singing in the other churches? Portable wore our Sutana and was singing Zazu. I wept when I saw him singing. God will judge the organizers”.
