Panics As Katsina Gov't Vows To Conduct Competency Test For School Principals, Teachers The Katsina State government has announced its plans to conduct competency tests for all principals and vice principals of secondary schools in the state.
The test is targeted at guiding the government in reappointments and in ensuring a merit-based measure to school leadership, promoting dedicated and lucid leadership in schools.
Commissioner of Basic and Secondary Education in the state, Zainab Musawa, said this in Katsina while briefing newsmen on the state’s performance in the 2024 National Examination Council (NECO) exams.
Musawa explained that the ministry also plans to reintroduce requisite prep classes for all final-year students with special coaching in Mathematics and English language subjects.
While emphasising the recent performance of students in the NECO exam, the Commissioner stated the reveal ranked sixth in the number of students who passed the exam with five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, which she described as a staggering achievement.
Adding that the remarkable academic display by the students was a reality of the commitment the government has made in transforming the education sector, providing instructional materials, facilities, and employment of over 7,000 teachers since the inception of the current administration in the state.
