Governor Usman Ododo and Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello The newly inaugurated Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has ordered the political stakeholders in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State to prioritize the authority of his predecessor, immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello, anytime he gives order that conflicts with Yahaya Bello's.
A source told The Round Table that Governor Ododo stated this, as part of his efforts to prevent the likes of the political scenario that recently occurred in Rivers State where Governor Siminalayi Fubara unexpectedly turned against his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who helped him to become the Governor of the state.
Governor Ododo begged the APC stakeholders, including party leaders, government officials, and people of the state to "please ignore" his order and respect that of the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, whenever their orders conflict.
He said “Obey Yahaya Bello's Order than mine, If I give you an order, and the former Governor, Yahaya Bello Gives you an order, pls ignore my order and obey the former Governor's order.
"If I say we should go this way, and the Former Governor says we should go the other way, you people should obey the former Governor and ignore mine,” Governor Ododo emphasized.
Recall that in the bid to maintain the political relevance of former Governor Yahaya Bello in the Kogi State politics, and empowers him to have a [solid] say in the administration of the state Governor Ododo, a few hours after his inauguration, established Office of the Immediate Past Governor of Kogi State to be domiciled in the Governor's Office, and former Governor Yahaya Bello will be the pioneering occupier of the office where he is expected to have full insights and control over the affairs of Kogi State Government.
Citizens have been worried about the developments coming from Kogi State with anxieties that Governor Ododo might be under pressure to do these. However, there is speculation that, with time, the developments may turn the relationship between Governor Ododo and his political godfather, Yahaya Bello sour if care is not taken.
